Growing up on an island off the coast of South Carolina, Catherine got her creative start at a young age - coloring family portraits, painting murals in her childhood bedroom closet (thanks mom), and constructing miniature worlds inside a shoebox. Her captivation with creativity & inventive thinking continued into adolescence where she developed interests in fine art but also across subjects and activities like math, sports, languages, natural sciences, urban design, and travel.

Catherine went on to study Engineering and Computer Science at Vanderbilt University which led her to a profession in product design and later software engineering. Throughout her life and career, Catherine’s fondness for expressing herself and her state of being with more traditional art mediums like acrylic paint, chalk pastel, watercolor, and charcoal is a constant and ever-evolving practice she considers integral to her life.

Now based in New York City, Catherine continues to hone her love for creative problem solving, inventive thinking, and play — weaving it into her work today as a software engineer and in her passionate pursuits in fine art.
